City of Lebanon Natural Gas Department Notice – February Billing Cycle

The City of Lebanon Natural Gas Department would like to inform customers that February gas bills may be higher than normal due to recent extreme winter weather.

What caused the increase?

  • Colder temperatures led to higher-than-normal gas usage
  • Regional demand increased, raising the cost of natural gas
  • The City was required to purchase additional gas at higher market rates to meet demand

Additionally, a secondary supply line is currently offline due to a rehabilitation project by the pipeline operator, which limited supply flexibility during this time. This situation is outside of the City’s control.

Important to Know

  • The City did not increase base rates
  • Gas costs are passed through directly with no markup
  • This increase is temporary and weather-related

What to Expect

  • Many customers may see bills $40–$65 higher, depending on usage
  • Costs are expected to return closer to normal as temperatures improve
