The Criminal Investigations Division is responsible for performing the investigative functions of the Lebanon Police Department. This division is comprised of one Lieutenant, eight investigators, support staff and is overseen by the CID Captain. Investigators are assigned cases daily based on review by the CID Lieutenant.
When a report is filed, the report is forwarded from patrol to the Lieutenants office, where it is reviewed and the determination is made if the case will be assigned out for further investigation. This decision is based on the solvability factors of a crime along with the severity of the crime, and the current case load of the detectives.
The Criminal Investigations Division is responsible for the investigation of all violent crimes, property crimes and crimes against family. All investigators equally share the responsibility of investigating crimes against children, while one investigator is assigned to investigate claims of elder abuse. Investigators also have received training and are highly qualified in the different areas of investigations including interviewing victims, witnesses and suspects along with crime scene investigation and the collections and preservation of evidence. This division takes pride in conducting reactive as well as proactive investigations in an attempt to deter criminal activity before it occurs.
